BIG STAR is a Polish fashion brand with a long-standing tradition, known for its high-quality denim and iconic star symbol. For over 40 years, the company has been creating jeans from premium denim, expanding its portfolio to include a wide range of clothing and accessories.

We’ve partnered with BIG STAR from day one to support the development of a compelling digital concept – transforming it into a modern e-commerce app that reflects the brand’s identity and responds to customer expectations.

The vision was clear: create a seamless connection between offline and online worlds. By fostering deeper customer loyalty and enhancing service quality, the company aimed not only to boost sales and optimize costs but also to position BIG STAR for an international expansion.

A product’s success depends on a deep understanding of the market and consumers, so we started the project with a robust research phase.

To make sure the app would be a seamless extension of the BIG STAR brand, we first performed a Discovery phase – a deep dive into the company’s business landscape. We analyzed customer data, reviewed segmentation strategies, and organized workshops with key stakeholders to ensure the app development goals would be aligned with the company’s broader vision.

To support BIG STAR in gaining a competitive edge, we then followed with a Benchmarking phase, exploring market leaders and industry innovations. By carefully selecting and analyzing standout apps, we identified best practices and potential differentiators that would make BIG STAR’s product a new point of reference in fashion m-commerce.

With strategic insights in place,
the next step was to understand what customers truly expected.

Our researchers gathered quantitative and qualitative data, surveying 800 potential users across diverse demographics and conducting in-depth focus groups to uncover expectations, frustrations, and usage behaviors. These insights shaped detailed personas, helping to refine the app’s role in customers' daily lives.

Finally, bringing everything together, we synthesized business priorities, competitive learnings, and user needs into a compelling app concept. Our work resulted in a clear roadmap, outlining key functionalities, user flows, and a strategic direction for design and development.

Time to create an inspiring, fashion-forward experience aligned with BIG STAR’s brand identity!

Thanks to the discovery and research phase, our designers had a clear vision for the app’s look and feel. They set out to build a comprehensive design system, complete with thorough documentation to ensure consistency and scalability.

A key focus was the seamless integration of light and dark mode, allowing the app to automatically adapt to system settings for a smooth user experience. Core design tasks also included styling essential UI components, integrating brand-aligned icons and fonts, and maintaining a cohesive visual identity.

To elevate the experience further, our designers decided to enrich some interfaces with high-quality imagery showcasing the brand’s signature product, denim, and creating a visually engaging and inspiring journey for users as they navigate the app.

BIG STAR’s app wouldn’t be just a shopping platform – it would be a seamless blend of convenience, personalization, and brand loyalty.

From the start, we focused on creating an app that would feel effortless yet deeply engaging throughout every interaction. To achieve this, we built a personalized dashboard that dynamically adapts to user preferences and shopping history.

We also implemented advanced product discovery features, including smart search, filters, and QR code scanning. Meanwhile, the integration of high-quality visuals and engaging content reinforced the brand’s identity, making the digital shopping experience just as inspiring as visiting a physical store.

Behind the sleek interface, a robust technical foundation ensured the app could scale and evolve alongside the business.

We developed native solutions for iOS and Android, seamlessly integrating the backend and recommendation logic provided by BIG STAR. This included a robust loyalty program that allows users to collect and redeem points, track purchase history, and access exclusive benefits.

We integrated a marketing automation solution as well, enabling data-driven personalization, targeted promotions, and smart product recommendations based on user behavior. To further enhance engagement, the app includes a referral system, an in-app denim customization tool, and a “Recommended” feature that suggests the perfect fit based on past purchases and returns.

Every element of the app was designed to drive meaningful business outcomes: encouraging frequent engagement, increasing conversion rates, and strengthening customer relationships.

Results

With the launch of the app, BIG STAR entered a new era of digital-first retail,
bringing mobile commerce forward as a strategic growth driver.

By seamlessly integrating the online and offline shopping experience, the brand has empowered customers to engage with their products in a way that feels natural, rewarding, and highly personalized. The BIG STAR app now:
