When Modivo Group first reached out to us, the company was in the process of designing a new mobile app for its footwear e-commerce, known as eskor in Sweden, eobuwie in Poland, and under many other names.
The client’s designers had created a significant number of UI views for the app, but they needed support to increase components’ usability and technical feasibility, fill gaps,
and ensure visual consistency.
We quickly jumped in to support Modivo Group in building a design system for the footwear brand. As the project progressed, we would also participate in the app’s development and help implement additional features post-launch.
We started the project by analyzing the client’s existing UI components. We categorized them based on style and technical feasibility. Then, we identified missing components and processes that would need to be created at a later stage to build a complete UI ecosystem.
We also designed a set of rules and restrictions that would guide the creation of all components to make the eobuwie app’s design internally consistent and simple
to implement and expand.
In the meanwhile, to increase development efficiency even further, our software engineers performed technical analysis and designed architecture for the application.
Over the next months, our designers developed the necessary UI components and used them to recreate all pre-existing app screens. The Design team worked in collaboration with the client’s Product Owner and both Future Mind’s and the client’s programmers. This interdisciplinary approach allowed us to ensure full technical feasibility as well as detect and take into account all inter-platform differences.
Simultaneously, the team created complete documentation for all components, cataloging aspects such as component anatomy, component stylization, responsiveness, text truncation,
and properties and variants. This element of the design system was key for facilitating future implementation and allowing the client to continue expanding the design system in the future. After equipping the company with this starting point for all future visual work, we handed the design system over to the client’s in-house designers.
Our Android and iOS developers formed joint teams with Modivo Group’s engineers, collaborating on equal terms to launch an MVP. Future Mind’s experience was especially crucial at the earliest stages of the project when Modivo Group’s footwear brand was making the first steps towards building an in-house mobile development team. Our experts supported the company to get the ball rolling and create an efficient programming environment.
We focused on building a convenient platform for users to browse and purchase shoes, accessories, and watches. Our goal was not only to create a seamless shopping experience – especially important for mobile users who prefer quick and easy access to products – but also to provide inspiration for consumers looking to express their fashion preferences through footwear.
The app’s user-friendly interface and clear menu make it easy to find products without confusion. Robust search and filtering options go beyond basics like price, size, and color, helping users quickly narrow their choices.
As part of a seamless omnichannel experience, users can opt for in-store pickup or request their preferred shoe size to try on at a local store, where a tablet app suggests alternatives.
Returns are simplified with a hybrid system combining in-app features and external delivery services. Users can initiate returns or complaints via smartphone. Market-specific features, like Klarna in Germany, further boost sales.
Taking Modivo Group’s footwear brand’s user experience to new heights, we implemented esize.me: an innovative solution for performing 3D foot scans. Three seconds are enough for a user to learn exactly how their feet measure up against 500 brands’ shoe sizes, making it possible to choose the right fit even without visiting a physical shop.
It’s not just about foot length, either. The system takes into account each shoe model’s internal architecture and compares it to
the user’s anatomy and preferences to recommend a truly comfortable fit. The software never stops self-improving based on the customer’s responses and opinions. In the case of children’s shoes, performing updated scans as the foot grows ensures consistently appropriate recommendations. Implementing esize.me has been a great response to some customers’ concerns about buying shoes via online channels.
We implemented personalization and analytics platforms like Synerise, AppsFlyer, and Firebase, which provide the client with insights into user behavior and allow for targeted and relevant recommendations. By understanding preferences, browsing habits, and purchase history, the app can deliver personalized product suggestions and upsells tailored to each individual user. This level
of personalization enhances the user experience and increases
the likelihood of conversion.
The integration of deep links facilitates a seamless transition from the website or a friend’s recommendation to the app, reducing friction in the purchasing process. User preferences stay in
the phone’s memory even if the app is not installed initially, ensuring a smooth transition and guiding users directly to the relevant product after installation.
By combining analytics-driven insights with personalized recommendations and seamless communication channels,
the app creates a highly engaging and frictionless shopping experience, ultimately driving sales and fostering long-term customer loyalty.
An app that drives business results does so by becoming a direct communication channel with customers. This allows companies to engage with them more effectively through personalized notifications, promotions, and offers. But how do you achieve that
in so many markets at the same time?
To make it possible, our developers made sure the app can detect the user's circumstances based on their phone settings, such as language, and immediately suggest the most appropriate market for a frictionless onboarding experience.
We also implemented Phrase, a cutting-edge tool for so-called over-the-air translation. Phrase allows Modivo Group’s employees across all the different markets to update content in their respective languages without the user having to download an app update to see the latest version. It is also a great time saver in that it allows all occurrences of the same phrase to be edited at the same time.
We continue implementing small fixes and enhancements to make user experience and business results even better, but we’re not planning to stop at that. A comprehensive loyalty program is in the works, which will allow eskor, eobuwie, and other Modivo Group footwear brands to engage customers to an increasingly higher level and increase their lifetime value.
We can’t wait to see what else we achieve together as we keep innovating in the fashion m-commerce industry alongside Modivo Group.
