Future Mind's Summary of 2018

Once again, we’re publishing the summary of the previous year in February. Make no mistake - the reason behind it is not my tardiness, but the challenges we face to scale our business. Actually, I could easily sum up 2018 in three sentences: our revenues have increased by more than 80% to over 7,3 mln PLN (while the EBITDA was over 1,35 mln PLN) and our team has grown larger (by 20%, to be exact) and Future Mind has basically become a major digital transformation partner in many ventures. Still, the road to success was way too interesting no to summarise it. Here it is, then!

2018 at Future Mind in review

The above-mentioned achievements wouldn’t have been possible without three crucial factors:

  • An excellent team (and its both technical and business knowledge), that made it possible to design, integrate and transform core processes in many top companies across industries,
  • Streamlining operational and financial management, which enabled us to find new ways of optimizing and using our resources more effectively. In 2019, we are still committed to becoming a more data-driven organisation,
  • Recruiting leaders within international sales and human resources departments, as well as creating a brand new structure with strong middle management (to be announced in Q1!)

The key factor of growth: Satisfied clients
For a while now, we have been working mainly with enterprise clients. Nonetheless, the partnership that we’re most proud of is the cooperation with Żabka Polska - the convenience store chain with more than 5000 shops in Poland. We didn't only act as a technological partner but also advised on the digital transformation strategy of Żabka Polska.

The first project that we can take credit for is frappka app, which serves as a command and control center for the franchisees, and supports the field staff in their day-to-day work. Thanks to the mobile app, its users have an overview and control over the proper functioning of all stores, at any time and place.

The successful cooperation convinced our client, Żabka Polska, that we possess the necessary knowledge and skills, as well as the ability to scale our team, to meet the needs of such a big venture. We have been working together on the second, equally important product which is Żappka app.

Of course, it wasn’t the only long-term collaboration we started in 2018. Actually, we have been developing consecutive projects for most of the clients we acquired last year. Their trust is what motivates us to work even harder in 2019.

Let’s not forget about startups, though. Working with top startups and helping them to scale their businesses, thanks to state-of-the-art technology and our experience, still brings us great joy. A perfect example of such cooperation last year was developing a mobile SDK for Survicate.

At the same time, we’re proud of the fact that our work is valued not only by the clients but also by competition boards. Last year, two of our projects were nominated for Mobile Trends Awards, with one distinction being awarded. We were also recognized by independent organizations, such as Clutch.co, as a reliable app developer and B2B service provider.

What else we have in store (and already in progress!)

In recent years, we have been launching new business lines whenever we had a chance to implement first fully-functioning solutions in a certain field. This strategy has been paying off so far, as all business lines we launched last year has turned out to be successful - especially IoT solutions we’ve developed for Signify (former Philips Lighting). That’s precisely why, after many lucrative projects in 2018, we decided to turn our attention towards:

Digital transformation. Last year we proved that we can be a reliable partner in digital transformation for prominent organizations - when it comes to both technical and business aspects of it. Because of that, in 2019 we will gladly take on new projects within this field, focusing on two core aspects:

  • Client orientation - more precisely: how to increase value for the client through using advanced technology, while managing product cannibalization and the growth of the whole business,
  • Internal business processes - analysing and defining processes that could be digitized and transformed in order to increase effectiveness.

Apart from that, we are constantly keeping an eye on the latest trends to be able to advise our clients on the best possible solutions. Seeing how the consumers change the way they interact with devices through voice and audio, we decided to launch another business line: Voice Assistants. Thanks to conducting a few R&D projects ourselves, we now have the necessary experience to implement Voice Assistants into the portfolios of our current and future clients, shaping their image as innovation leaders.

If you wish to become one of them or simply discuss your project, don’t hesitate to contact us. We’d be happy to build dedicated solutions to turn your ideas into reality and grow your business once we’re at it (both in 2019 and beyond!).
