D-Marin had been expanding its premium marina network for nearly two decades, serving sailing enthusiasts in locations along the Mediterranean coast and in the Gulf region.
As the company’s operations grew in complexity, it became apparent that rapid growth would be hard to sustain without serious modernization.
Marinas all around the world had long organized their work through a combination of paper slips, walkie-talkies, and Excel spreadsheets. However, with 15 locations in the network, the tools that had once been enough were starting to generate unimaginable overhead for D-Marin.
With the support of Future Mind, the company decided to do something unthinkable in the marina industry – sail right into The Digital. Meet the first truly digital marina network in the world.
Future Mind stepped in to lead D-Marin through an ambitious digital transformation effort. Our consultants started out by helping the company’s decision-makers understand the needs of all key stakeholders, including the company’s employees and customers.
We collaborated with the Client to create a roadmap for an ecosystem of products that would digitalize its operations. Then, our engineers brought it to life by building and integrating backend and frontend layers of a customer-facing web portal, a B2C mobile app, a B2B mobile app, and a backoffice marina management platform.
Now, as the first phase of our collaboration is complete, nearly all aspects of the D-Marin’s operations are managed by a state-of-the-art system composed of innovative, interconnected software solutions.
The company’s guests can book and manage their stays on the device of their choice and control the condition of their boats with IoT sensors. At every berth – for now in Croatia, but soon across the entire network – sailors can scan smart pylons to connect their boats to electricity and running water without the need for assistance.
Field employees know exactly where they’re needed in the marina thanks to our B2B solution, Starflow, which makes working for D-Marin a breeze. Convenient task lists and marina maps facilitate everyday work, and if an emergency occurs on a boat equipped with an IoT sensor, the nearest staff member is immediately dispatched to deal with the problem.
They have all the time they need for productive work now that so many customers check in and manage their bookings online, without having to line up at the front desk.
On the backend, all D-Marin services are controlled by dynamic algorithms that continuously analyze the real-time state of the marinas and calculate optimal pricing levels depending on dozens of factors. All systems are integrated with the company’s CRM and ERP to ensure decision-makers have everything under control.
