Pepco’s Mobile App Wins Two Awards at WaysAwards 2026

Pepco - Cover Photo

The Pepco mobile app, which we built in collaboration with Pepco Group, has won the Mobile App category at WaysAwards 2026 and taken home the Public Voting award, too.

WaysAwards, organized by WaysConf in Kraków, brings together industry recognition and public appreciation by celebrating outstanding digital products across websites, mobile apps, and desktop and web applications.

Recognized by the jury, chosen by the public

The jury named the Pepco app the winner of the Mobile App category. Each juror independently and anonymously selected their top five projects, making this recognition all the more special.

The app also took home the Public Voting award. This one was decided entirely by the public, which requires a big thank-you to everyone who voted – your support is invaluable!

Building the Pepco app in six months

Pepco is a retail chain with more than 4,050 stores across 18 European countries, including Poland, Spain, and Germany. Pepco Group asked us to plan a mobile roadmap and build a data-driven loyalty app that would connect its stores with shoppers on their phones.

The project rested on three pillars:

  1. Strategy: before writing any code, we did market research, user research, and competitive benchmarking. What we learned about customer behavior shaped the registration flow and supported Pepco in deciding the app’s core purpose. We also helped Pepco build solid foundations for the long-term push into digital retail.
  2. Design: we built a design system that gives the app a modern UI while keeping Pepco’s existing branding. We tested the loyalty card layout, bottom navigation, and onboarding with users. We also weighed SMS against email verification to find the best fit for sign-up.
  3. Development: we built the app from scratch in six months. It runs natively on both iOS and Android, with a backend built to handle heavy traffic. We led the implementation of the platform behind the app’s customer data, automation, and personalization, and supported Pepco and its partner vendors with other systems.

All three pillars come together in the Pepco Club loyalty program, which sits at the heart of the app. With it, members can:

  • Scan a digital loyalty card at checkout to unlock exclusive benefits,
  • Get personalized discount vouchers,
  • Browse the product catalog and save items to a wishlist,
  • Find products and stores nearby.

The app includes a gamified feature to give users a strong incentive to come back regularly, called “Tap the Heart”.

Thank you

Congratulations to the teams at Pepco and Future Mind who built this together, and thank you to everyone who cast their vote. For a closer look behind the development scenes, click here to read the full case study.
